First off, I have now been five full days without a cigarette. I think I might have had a drag of one on Monday. It's hard to remember, really. Everything is fine with that and I feel like I might be getting less retarded. I sure hope so.
Ok, so...wow. I met with my clinic supervisor on Friday and I'll be working with children with autism this semester. Right now I'm only scheduled for six hours and I need to have between 10 and 12, so I'll be adding more. I also have 15 hours a week of classes. So that is 25 - 27 hours of school altogether. Plus, for the week of September, I'm doing hearing screenings for Head Start from 8am - 12:15 every Thursday and then going straight to clinic. So in September, I'll essentially be having 31 hours of just school stuff. Not even counting homework time. So, I'm sure you can see how stressed out I am about this. Especially considering I have to fit meetings in there somewhere, and also unpack the house somewhere, too.
I had to go buy scrubs and nurse shoes to wear in clinic yesterday. I'm stoked we can wear scrub bottoms. I got gay nurse's mules so I can slip them off when I'm on the floor with the kids. I have to wear a shirt that goes down far enough to cover my back when I bend over so I went to Target and got some Mossimo t-shirts. I am set for a little while with that. It took me forever to find scrubs that fit! You wouldn't believe how hard that was! You would think that scrubs would pretty much be like pajamas, and no trying on is needed. Wrong! Most of them had a crotch so low it was chafing my legs when I walked. I finally ended up having to buy (of course) the most expensive scrubs they had. But, they fit really well and are very soft. I was so pissed, though. I wanted to just get the $8 ones. They also came in cool colors.
I also have to bring my lunch and eat it in the car between Head Start and clinic on Thursdays so I had to buy a lunch bag. I hate bringing my lunch. I hate cold food. I like hot food. That will only last a month, though, and then I will be able to eat in the student lounge, which has a microwave and fridge, or eat out.
Today we went grocery shopping. Actually, we tried to eat at the Shoney's near our house before that, but I don't even want to talk about it. We actually left before my food came and I left $0.00 tip. The whole place was full of dishonest people. Some of you will understand what that means. Ended up eating at Baja Fresh on the nice side of town. Hadn't eaten at Baja Fresh since I left California. It was mighty good. I think I slipped on the diet, though.
Speaking of diet, I'm concerned about my weight. I have gained five or six pounds that I need to lose. I'm going to try really hard to eat right during at least the week. I would love to be able to work out, too, but I don't see where I will fit that in. That's always the first thing off the list, and right now I haven't even been going to meetings, so that comes first.
I did unpack some things and get a few things done around the house today. Like, I'm doing laundry right now. Also, I put all my various and sundry Vanderbilt shit on my car and keychain. I'm so fucking proud to be a Vanderbilt School of Medicine grad student, I put stickers and license plate frames and shit all over my car. I fucked up one of the stickers, though. I need to redo it. The surface was really too hot to be doing that.
Ummmmmm what else. Tomorrow we're going up to my Uncle Chris and Aunt Shirley's house in Gallatin (about half an hour away) for Labor Day. They have an above-ground pool. So that will be nice. I got my first brazilian wax since December or January on Saturday. I'm so fucking happy the Accutane has left my system enough for me to be able to get waxed again, I can't even begin to tell you. So I'm nice and cleaned up for bathing suits. I actually got a nice massage afterwards. I needed it.
We tried this little French cafe near our house but it sucked and was overpriced. So far I have been wholly unimpressed with the restaurants here.
I had planned to try to get some reading done today, but it looks like that's not gonna happen. I finally got all my books so I can actually start. I did a little bit last night. I should probably read Neurology, since that's new to me. Three of my classes will be, at least in part, review for me.
I can't think of anything else. We're getting our kittens soon. Here is what they look like:
Aren't they precious?! They will continue changing color for the next two years. They are both blue and boys.
Ok, I gotta go finish up laundry. Talk to you later, and if you are reading this, please comment! You can just say hi if you want.
Bye bye!
